Entry Requirements
1. General Requirements: Applicants should, in principle, be between 18 and 25 years of age (calculated as of September 1, 2008), in good physical and mental health(free from infectious diseases and from any physical or mental conditions that would affect normal study) , with a high school diploma, or have an equivalent qualification of a Chinese high school diploma and above stages (As of September 1, 2026, the applicant must have obtained a high school diploma).They must demonstrate excellent academic performance and conduct, comply with the relevant provisions of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, hold a valid foreign passport, and be non-Chinese citizens who are friendly toward China and have no criminal record.
2. Nationality Determination: According to the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China and the regulations of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China (Jiaowaihan [2020] No. 12), individuals whose parents are both Chinese citizens or one of whom is a Chinese citizen and who have settled abroad, and who acquired foreign nationality at birth, are not considered Chinese nationals. As foreign student applicants, such individuals must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certification before April 30, 2022, and must have a record of actual residence abroad for at least two years between April 30, 2022, and April 30, 2026 (a stay of nine months in a foreign country within a year is considered equivalent to a full year, based on entry and exit stamps).
3. Special Residency Cases:In accordance with the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, residents of Mainland China, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, and Taiwan who have immigrated and acquired foreign nationality must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certification beforeApril 30, 2022,and have a certificate of having canceled Chinese nationality, and must have a record of actual residence abroad for at least two years between April 30, 2022, and April 30, 2026 (a stay of nine months in a foreign country within a year is considered equivalent to a full year, based on entry and exit stamps).
Notes: Whether an applicant who holds foreign nationality also holds the nationality of the People’s Republic of China shall be determined based on the nationality determination issued by the Exit and Entry Administration of the Chinese public security authorities. If the applicant is found to hold Chinese nationality during the application process, admission process, or after enrollment, their application eligibility, admission eligibility, or enrollment status shall be revoked, or corresponding measures shall be taken.
4. [Language Proficiency]HSK Level 5 or above (inclusive), with a minimum score of 60 in each section; HSKK (Speaking) Intermediate level or above, with a minimum score of 60 (all results must be within the validity period).
Notes: For programs offered by the School of Broadcasting and Anchoring, applicants are required to have Chinese language proficiency at HSK Level 6 or above (inclusive), with a minimum score of 60 in each section, and HSKK (Speaking) Advanced level or above (inclusive), with a minimum score of 60.
For programs offered by the School of International Studies, applicants are required to have Chinese language proficiency at HSK Level 6 or above (inclusive), with a minimum score of 60 in each section, and HSKK (Speaking) Advanced level or above (inclusive), with a minimum score of 60.
For the major of Network and New Media (Operation of Intelligent Media Convergence) applicants are required to have Chinese language proficiency at HSK Level 6 or above (inclusive), with a minimum score of 60 in each section, and HSKK (Speaking) Intermediate level or above (inclusive), with a minimum score of 60.
For the major of Chinese Language and Literature, applicants are required to have Chinese language proficiency at HSK Level 4 or above (inclusive), with a minimum score of 60 in each section, and HSKK (Speaking) Intermediate level or above (inclusive), with a minimum score of 60.
Malaysian high school graduates from Chinese independent schools can submit their UEC exam results. Applicants with passing grades in Chinese are exempt from submitting HSK certificates. Other Malaysian applicants must meet the HSK language proficiency requirements outlined above.
For applicants whose native language is not English, relevant English proficiency certificates or test results may be submitted as supplementary materials.
If oral test results are already included on the HSK score report, submission of a separate HSKK score report is not required.
